About the Fair
The National Humanities Fair is a virtual conference open to all high school students in the United States. Established to address the absence of a national platform for humanities-oriented students, this event provides an unparalleled opportunity to showcase and discuss original research. The National Humanities Fair offers both collaborative and competitive elements, fostering intellectual growth and academic excellence.
Eligibility Criteria
- Participants must be rising 9th to 12th grade students attending a high school in the United States.
- Submissions must be academic and non-fiction in nature, adhering to rigorous scholarly standards.
- All projects must be the original work of the entrant(s), demonstrating innovative thinking and thorough research.
- Teams may consist of up to two eligible students, promoting collaborative scholarship.
- Projects may have been previously submitted to other competitions or school assignments, with certain restrictions to ensure academic integrity.
- All submissions must be in English.

Submission Process
Deadline: December 1, 2024 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
Results: December 15, 2024
There is no entry fee for each student's first entry. Students wishing to submit more than one entry will be asked to make a $10 tax-deductible donation due to the increased load.
Entry Requirements:
- Short description of work (strict three sentence maximum)
- Abstract (strict maximum of 250 words)
- Link to entry (Google Doc, unlisted YouTube video, website, etc.)
- Demographic information (not considered in judging, merely for reporting purposes)
Judging Process:
- The first round of judging will include peer review.
- Each entry will be reviewed by three peers.
- Participants are expected to provide fair and constructive feedback.
- If a participant routinely scores other participants lower than the average, we will review for signs of bad intent.
- Peer reviews will be considered alongside evaluations from our panel of expert judges.
Awards and Recognition
- Grand Prize: $150
- Best in Category: $50
- Additional Recognition: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mentions per category
- All participants receive official digital certificates of participation
Excellent essays may be considered for publication in the Youth Humanities Journal.
Important Information
All submissions undergo rigorous evaluation for academic integrity, including scrutiny for AI-generated content and plagiarism. The Internet Integrity Initiative reserves the right to showcase top entries publicly. While students retain rights to their content, winning entries will be featured in academic circles and may be published in our annual compendium of exemplary student research.
